Kansas City, MO — The Utah Valley University women’s soccer team picked up their first win on the road in 2015 with a 1-0 shutout victory over Missouri-Kansas City in Western Athletic Soccer action on Friday night at Durwood Stadium.

The Wolverines improved to 6-4-1, 1-0-1 in WAC play while the Roos drop to 7-4-0, 1-1-0 in the WAC.

The lone goal came in the 56th minute when Taylor Kirk, a junior from Pleasant Grove, took a pass from Sheridan Fox, beat the UMKC goalkeeper and put it in the back of the net.  It was the second goal of the season for Kirk.

It was all the scoring that UVU needed as goalkeeper Jessica Duffin and the Wolverine defense held off numerous counterattacks by the Roos.  UVU also did a good job of keeping the pressure on as they were in attack mode the entire game rather than sitting back on defense.

Duffin picked up her fourth shutout of the season and 13th of her career with the clean sheet.

The Wolverines travel to Chicago for a Sunday afternoon match against Chicago State.  Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. MT.
