Now that school has begun, students need a good amount of media to keep them looking forward to their lives. Fortunately, the beautiful fall season includes an array of TV shows, movies and music that will help students get through the semester and provide a good diversion while procrastinating homework.

As fall approaches, some enjoy nature and getting out to explore Utah’s natural beauty, while others enjoy staying indoors and becoming engulfed in all of the TV shows coming back. Deadline.com has broken down the most popular fall TV shows. Brace yourselves; there are a lot of goodies coming.

September is promising with new and returning series such as How to Get Away with Murder, Nashville, the small screen adaptation of feature-film Limitless, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, the Hulu premiere of The Mindy Project, South Park, Doctor Who, Modern Family, Criminal Minds, The Voice, Ryan Murphy’s new horror thriller Scream Queens, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, NBC’s reboot Heroes: Reborn, The Big Bang Theory, Survivor and The Walking Dead.

October is hitting us with The Blacklist, American Horror Story: Hotel, critical fave and big-screen adaptation Fargo, Cinemax’s 1900s medical drama The Knick, new CBS series Supergirl, The Vampire Diaries, Bones, CSI: Cyber, Amazon’s 1980s set comedy Red Oaks, The Good Wife, Showtime CIA thriller Homeland and Master Chef. Set those DVR’s.

According to Box Office Mojo this fall’s releases won’t disappoint. Jason Sudeikis stars in Sleeping With Other People, a movie akin to similarly-themed smashes Friends with Benefits and No Strings Attached. Next up, the second installation of book adaptation trilogy The Maze Runner, entitled The Scorch Trials. Johnny Depp fans rejoice because he is back on the big screen starring in Black Mass, a film about a notorious mobster in the 70s. The Intern starring Anne Hathaway & Robert De Niro is a feel good comedy in which DeNiro plays an intern to Hathaway’s corporate executive character. Disney’s Hotel Transylvania 2 will bring out the kids to round off September’s box office hits.

Coming in October is The Martian starring Matt Damon, an action/adventure space film from Ridley Scott about an astronaut who gets left behind by his crew on Mars. He Named Me Malala, the highly anticipated film based on the Nobel Peace Prize winning novel, I Am Malala. Jack Black starring in Goosebumps, based on the classic children’s horror book series. And Woodlawn, a heart-warming football film based on a true story from the 1970s.

November is bringing us two huge releases that have everyone buzzing: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, and Spectre, the latest James Bond film.

Musicians must be aware that students need some new tunes to blast in their headphones as they meander down hallways avoiding any human interaction. Artists scheduled to drop albums this fall include bohemian goddess Lana Del Rey, pop-punkers 5 Seconds of Summer, Avicii, Justin Bieber, rapper Mac Miller, Demi Lovato, deep house duo Disclosure, a comeback album from Janet Jackson, Drake and psych-pop star BØRNS.

Expect some surprise album releases, thanks to Queen Bey setting the bar high in December 2013 when she dropped a surprise album in the middle of the night, starting off a trend many artists have been following. Miley Cyrus recently surprise released her album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz after announcing it at the end of her hosting gig at the VMA’s. The world is still waiting on much teased releases from Kanye West, Rihanna and Frank Ocean. Adele, Chris Brown, Gwen Stefani, Keith Urban, Kings of Leon, and a reformed TLC, have also teased unscheduled albums due this fall.

As the autumn temperature drops and sinks into weathered summer skin, rest assured that there will be plenty of entertaining content to help students continue to shy away from social interaction and avoid homework. And to these distractions, may they all raise a pumpkin spice latte.
