Qualtrics sponsored the UVU American Marketing Association Sales Idol competition on Friday, Feb. 27. UVU students took second and third place. Spencer Cope finished second and won $2,500, and Francisco Chavarria finished third and won $1,000.

UVU business students competed against other students across the state. The competition attracted students from University of Utah, Weber State University, Utah State University and Brigham Young University. The competition consisted of two separate rounds in which students presented an eight-minute sales pitch to a live buyer, based on Qualtrics software.

“It was great to see more than 100 students from across the state of Utah competing,” said Kevin Rhoads, director of UVU’s professional sales program and assistant professor in the Woodbury School of Business, in a press release. “UVU students were well prepared and did a great job. 11 of the 18 semi-finalists and three of the six finalists were from UVU.”

More than half the students who participated in the competition have been contacted by Qualtrics and other businesses in attendance for potential job interviews.
