Up and coming in Contemporary Dance Ensemble

Reading Time: < 1 minute

UVU Contemporary Dance Ensemble is performing eclectic choreography to original music March 12-14 in the Ragan Theater at 7:30 p.m.  Their show, “Destinations,” combines the art and energy of UVU students with the creativity and culture of choreographers Carl Fink, Natalie Desch, Sarah Donahue, Rosie Banchero, Doris Hudson-Trujilo and Amy Markgraf-Jacobson.

Fink brings “athleticism and daring humanistic themes” with his work, “Lost Lullabies.” African themes, drumming and rhythms are in “From Within,” from local artist Banchero. Donahue choreographed “That Ineffable Groove,” a blues-toned piece. Markgraf-Jacobson and Hudson-Trujilo are premiering two dances, “Blue,” and “Interplay II.” Desch, UVU instructor, will also present original choreography.unnamed

These pieces will also be performed this July at Dance and the Child International Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark. To raise money for the trip, they are offering classes to schools.
