For the second time in three days, the Utah Valley baseball team faced the San Francisco Dons in Albuquerque, New Mexico and it wasn’t the way the Wolverines wanted to start the month of March.  The Dons were able to hold off a furious rally in the top of the ninth inning for the victory over the Wolverines 7-6.

Down 7-1 in the top of the ninth inning, UVU would score five runs to cut the lead to 7-6.  Spencer Gothberg had an RBI triple.  Seth Rhineer hit a two-run double.  Jordan Schlehuber and Tate Harding drew bases loaded walks.  With the bases loaded and two outs Gothberg wasn’t able to to get a hit to tie the game up as he grounded into a fielder’s choice to end the game.

Jackson Cofer took the tough luck loss.  He pitched 6.2 innings, striking out nine USF hitters and only allowing two earned runs on six hits.

UVU had their opportunities to score but stranded 10 runners in the game including leaving the bases loaded on three different occasions to end the game.

Mark Krueger and Seth Rhineer had two hits on the day with Rhineer reaching base four times while driving in a pair of runs.
