The times of the year with the highest number of break ups are after New Year’s and Valentine’s Day because they are “expectation holidays.” If you weren’t all in before one of these holidays and your significant other doesn’t meet your expectations, it can be just what you needed to end it.
There are many reasons for the mid-February trend of break-ups. Some couples hold their relationships together for the holidays and end it after Valentine’s Day. Others see Valentine’s as the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
