On a rain-soaked Ute Field Sunday, Utah Valley lost in a 0-4 match to Utah. The loss brought UVU’s unbeaten streak to an end at seven matches.

The first half hour of the game had both teams playing to a 0-0 tie. Utah scored their first goal in the 31st minutes as Natalie Vukic chipped a try over UVU’s keeper, Jessica Duffin. The chance that Vukic capitalized on was created when Duffin’s goal kick was fired back into the offensive end by an on-rushing Megan Trabert.

The second half marked Utah’s dominance as on the hour Mariah Elmer notched the second goal off a pass down the middle. Then less than one minute later Taylor Slattery whipped a shot in form the right side. The Utes finished off the game in the 69th minute as Katie Taylor scored off a Utah corner.

Even with the loss the Wolverines played a strong game as seven different players recorded a shot and Taylor Kirk lead the team with two shots on goal. The team also recorded 11 shots, six of which were on goal the lady Wolverines aim wasn’t on par. Duffin had her work cut out for her as she recorded five saves in the box as the Ute’s fired 13 shots at her with nine on goal. It say much about her game as Duffin only let four past her.

The next time the lady Wolverines take the field will be in Seattle on Sunday, September 28th at 1:00p.m. MT. UVU will be facing off against Seattle University in their first game of WAC play.
