1. College of Humanities and Social Science:

The annual UVU Conference on Autism will take place from April 12, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m in the Sorensen Student Center. The event will feature a keynote speaker and many other presentations to make students aware of Autism Spectrum Disorder.

2. School of the Arts: 

High school seniors have a chance to win a scholarship through the Rebecca Mariott Champion Piano Competition on Saturday, March 23. The highest ranked senior will receive a full tuition scholarship for the next school year. All pianists will be given personal feedback on their performance.

Program admission application deadlines for both Elementary and Secondary Education programs have just ended. One of the requirements was a group interview, directed by the Teacher Education Selection and Retention Committee. A high GPA, good test results and completion of all required prerequisite courses were among other application requirements.

4. University College:

The first annual Student Leadership and Mentoring Conference on May 3 will take place in the Grande Ballroom. The $20 registration fee includes entrance to a 5K run along the Provo River Trail on April 13. The conference will be completely run by students to help other students in leadership and mentorship in academic disciplines and programs.

5. College of Technology and Computing:

On May 2, the Technology Expo will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the UCCU Center. The annual event gives high school students the opportunity to display their work in various technological areas; experts in their industry will act as judges. Students will be recognized with prizes at an awards ceremony.

6. Woodbury School of Business:

The 13th Annual Leadership Conference will take place on March 12. Keynote speaker Brad Wilcox will speak on “Facing Your Worst Fears.” Others will speak on leadership skills through their experiences, including Kevin Giddins, Jose Enriquez, Ricky Lundell and Clint Pulver.

7. College of Aviation and Public Services:

The Firefighter Rookie Challenge is coming up on March 23. Competitors will spend four hours preparing for the academy using real-life training, including handling ropes, practicing with fire nozzles, climbing ladders and search-and-rescue scenarios.

8. College of Science and Health:

Symposiums are held in the Science Building room 134 every month featuring speakers who are experts in their fields that address current topics. The events are open to the public, typically about 45-minutes long and include a question and answer period. The next symposium will be given by the Utah Evolution Education Group on March 21 at 1 p.m. Speakers are selected by the Dean’s Council.
