No Skype for you! New legislation in Ethiopia forbids the use of internet-based phone calls with offenses punishable with large fines and up to 15 years in prison. This change in online communication comes in the name of national security with fringe benefits including a revenue boost to State-run Ethio-Telecom.

Usually on a tourist ride it’s the one driving the ship that says: “Please keep your hands and feet inside the boat at all times.” Captain Wallace “Wally” Weatherholt disobeyed his own orders as he tossed fish and marshmallows into the water to attract alligators closer to the boat for his customers. After tempting fate, an actual “Florida Gator” took advantage and Wally’s hand. Authorities tracked down the offending gator and in true “Captain Hook” fashion, they gutted him and retrieved the boat captain’s hand. Despite successful efforts in retrieval, reattachment proved to be too tall of a task. Adding insult to injury, Wally now faces up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors property. Delbert Hale, 49, and Darrell Herzet, 44 of Salt Lake City forgot to follow this age old adage but the duo also forgot one other thing, if you steal your neighbors property don’t sell it at a garage sale just down the street. Hale and Herzet were each charged in 3rd District Court with burglary, a second degree felony, and theft, a second-degree felony. It’s yet to be determined if the $6,000 worth of stolen goods is enough to come between the neighbors for this years Fourth of July BBQ.
