Dialing financial aid

Reading Time: < 1 minute

There are certain times you can call Financial Aid and get help. Like most places, you can call between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., but there are other times to call as well.

During the fall holidays, there are times that the Financial Aid Call Center is usually available. This Thanksgiving holiday, the Call Center is taking calls on Wednesday, Nov. 23. It will be closed Thursday, Nov 24 and Friday, Nov. 25. The Call Center is also open most of December and all of summer.

Most of the financial aid information can be found online in UVLink. Counselors are also available to meet with students in person if phone lines are busy. Though the Call Center is open until 5 p.m., questions often take more than five minutes. Calling no later than 4 p.m. is helpful if callbacks are needed or the phone gets disconnected.

The scholarships office is only open until 4 p.m. The Financial Aid office can often answer basic questions about scholarships, but for in-depth detail, any calls pertaining to scholarships should be made before then.

If students often call in several times, it is helpful if the student writes down the name of the representative, counselor or department they talk to so further help can be swift and sure.
