NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Utah Valley’s Kayli Doxey and Sarah Clement have been named Great West Conference Volleyball Players of the Week after outstanding performances last week. The awards were announced Sept. 21 by the league office.

Doxey, a senior from Gilbert, Ariz., helped lead UVU to a 3-0 sweep over NJIT to open conference play last Thursday by posting a match-high 12 kills. She then was named to the Utah State Invitational All-Tournament Team after she posted 51 kills at the three game invite over the weekend, leading the Wolverines to a second place finish at 2-1. The outside hitter had a huge match in UVU’s five set come-from-behind victory over the previously undefeated host Utah State Aggies as she posted a double-double of 26 kills (match-high) and 10 digs. She also posted double figures in kills in all four of UVU’s matches.

Clement, a junior from Lindon, Utah, had a solid week around the net for UVU as she recorded 17 blocks and averaged 1.21 blocks per set. The right side/middle blocker also helped her team go 3-1 last week and start 1-0 in conference as she added 16 kills and hit at a .205 percentage.

The award is Doxey’s second of the season after she previously won it back on Sept. 7. For Clement it is her first weekly honor of the year.
