Career services and student employment will be hosting a design contest to give students and design enthusiasts the opportunity to hone in on their skills by creating a design for the competition.

Entries will receive professional feedback from five judges who are all design professionals in the area. Participants have the opportunity to win up to $300. The three categories are; best presentation, best design and selected design.

Alison Gray, employer relations recruiter and co-chair of the contest said, “the biggest benefit of last year’s contest was the feedback. Participants said it was an invaluable experience.”

The judges provide one on one advice about the participants’ work and the design industry. 10 individuals will be selected to present to the judges allowing them to gain skills in presenting their work to professionals in the industry.

Amber Collins, career counselor and co-chair of the contest said, “When we were looking at our marketing for the Career Fair, we decided to let students have the opportunity to present, market, and design the marketing concepts for the fair.”

This competition allows individuals to gain an invaluable experience and have another design to add to their portfolio. Those wishing to participate in the contest can pick up entry forms in LC 409. The deadline to submit for the contest is March 9.
