After winning five and tying one in the six possible games of the Great West Conference, the UVU women’s soccer team will head into the GWC Championship second to none.

The Wolverines proved their worthiness in a home game against South Dakota on Oct. 29 with a final score that reflected UVU’s level of talent leading into the championship. A score of 5-0 ended GWC play and set the tone for a championship that will conclude on Nov. 9 in New Jersey.

Despite cool temperatures, 194 loyal fans turned out to see their Wolverines rally against South Dakota.

With one goal in the first 29 minutes of the game, three different teammates scored the remaining four goals in the second period, two of those coming from Katey Turner.

With UVU doubling South Dakota’s shot count with each passing period, it is safe to say that the determination and sheer skill of the team will continue to benefit UVU going into the Conference Championship.
