Proof that hackers are starting to attack macs.

But I need to say this.

I am ashamed at times to be a Mac user, because it seems to put me in a group that declares itself as elitist, but its members seem to lack the basic ability to count.

Mr. Evans says he is proud to be a mac for so many reason he can’t cant count, and then gives two reasons over and over again.

Unfortunately what Mr. Evans said is not true, and is an example of the hyped-up lie-based journalism that is destroying the craft of writing.

“Macs just work,” Evans said. Please explain to me why my computer was dropped off at the Apple store this afternoon and will not be in my possession until this Monday. Oh, I won’t deny that the hardware and software installed are durable, but no system is fault-proof.

Mr. Evans goes on to say that Max OS is so advanced that it has no viruses. This is also a lie. While the number of viruses for PC’s may be larger, it is only a matter of time as Apple takes a larger market share, that hackers turn their attention to the Cupertino giant.

Prior to purchasing a Mac, I owned three personal PC’s over a span of seven years. Guess how many viruses I had during that time. Readers would be correct if you guessed zero. And no, I don’t mean that my virus scan caught them and saved me from them, I mean that I NEVER had a virus on my Windows XP/Vista/7 operating systems.

Speaking of Operating Systems, Windows 7 is a masterpiece that an Apple operating system will never equal. Mr. Evans iscorrect when he says that the Apple computer is designed for the Mac OS, but Apple will never be able to parallel Microsoft in their ability to instantly integrate new technology almost immediately into their OS. Oh wait, they can, by allowing Mac users to install Windows onto their computers (which I do).

Mr. Evans is right about one thing, Apples customer service is the best. But in reality, that is all that Apple has on PCs.

I would like to conclude with some points Mr. Evans made, and my counterpoints.

“Innovation drives Macs, and PC’s are years behind. Everything from unibody aluminum (probably bullet proof) laptops and magnetic safety release power cables…”

Are you talking about the magnetic safety release cables that cause a class-action lawsuit because of their amazing ability to easily break? Or maybe that huge innovation your talking about is when Apple switched to the Intel chips that PCs had been using for years.

“Did I mention that iTunes, another Mac product, is the #1 music store in the world?”

No, you didn’t, but perhaps I could mention how much of a memory hog iTunes is. They could really stand to shell it out a bit.

“iTunes, along with the rest of the iLife software that comes standard on every mac, turns your computer into the command center for your digital life.”

No, it turns your computer into a four pound advertisement.

“But let me say something good about PC’s. The best part about PC’s are, of course, that without them we really wouldn’t know how good we as Macs truly are.”

No really, the best part is that if Microsoft hadn’t bailed Apple out in 1997, we wouldn’t have our precious iPods, and Apple wouldn’t even exist.

Seriously, I’m a Mac… but ashamed to be put in the same group as you.

I use both Windows and Mac. They’re both operating systems. I kind of hate them both.

A few things to think about. Apple may be in charge of what goes into their laptops, but they don’t make them. Intel makes the processors, nVidia makes the GPU and many other companies make the other hundreds of components that go into them. Any other company can just as easily carefully choose high quality hardware to make their computers out of.

Second, if macs get “zero viruses” as you so firmly put it, why does the latest version of the Mac OS ship with built in anti-virus software? oh, right, because they do get viruses, and do need to be protected against it. ’nuff said.

If Macs are at the leading edge of innovation, why did they switch over to using Intel processors and nVidia GPUs which have been the most popular components in Windows computers for years and years? I guess that would make sense if innovation means to follow behind what other people were already doing.

The only thing you said that is actually fact is that apple has excellent customer support. They absolutely do. They can afford to offer it because all the people who buy macs are paying those support employees by paying so much for a computer that isn’t worth the price tag.
