Hammer pants. Flat tops. Done.

In an historical reunion, MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice took the stage at the McKay Events Center, performing together for the first time in 18 years.
After a widespread “community engagement” campaign, a visit from Michael Moore, and concerts from bands as popular as Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, and Mika, UVU finally found itself on the map on Feb. 27.
In an historical reunion, MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice took the stage at the McKay Events Center, performing together for the first time in 18 years.
The concert, a one-time gig that, according to Ice’s personal blog could possibly lead to a collaborative world tour, filled the McKay to the brim with attendees from all over the state.
Ice, né Robert Van Winkle, performed some of his old classics including “Ice Ice Baby.” Ice, now 41, has shifted his focus from hip hop to rock, and he re-worked the song to correspond with his new focus.
Ice’s performance was dramatic, including pyrotechnics and confetti cannons. He invited the crowd on stage, and it turned into a nearly uncontrollable mob.
Hammer, wearing his signature pants in black and swarmed by a troupe of backup dancers, gave an energetic performance. At 46, he can still dance like he did during his prime. Cameras circled the stage, filming for Hammer’s upcoming A&E reality show, Hammertime. The show is set to premiere this year, as early as May. Hammer closed the show with his most famous hit, “U Can’t Touch This”.
