It’s not midnight madness, but the men?s and women?s basketball teams will be introduced and put on display in a meet-the-team event to be held Saturday Oct. 18, 2:00 p.m. at the Activities Center. Both teams this season will feature players that will be worth the price of admission. On the men?s side, the Wolverines return their leading scorer and the best free-throw shooter in the nation, senior Ryan Toolson. The star shooting guard averaged nearly 24 points a game last season, most of those buckets coming off no-business, long-range jumpers with two defenders in his face. Toolson recently appeared in SLAM Magazine as an under-the-radar-player to watch.

Returning for the women?s team will be post-sensation Robyn Fairbanks and her 23.8-point average and honorable mention All-American status to lead the Wolverines into battle. Fairbanks? resume is long and legit, but most importantly, she helped UVU win games especially at home. She led the Wolverines to a team-high 16 wins in 2007.

The season will begin Nov. 6, for the men as they take on Mesa State College in an exhibition game before the official season opener on the Nov. 14, versus Northern Arizona. The women follow the same schedule with an exhibition against Fort Lewis Nov. 6, and the regular season opener on the Nov. 14, against Montana State. Both teams open their season at home, a great time and place to establish a home-court advantage in the McKay Center.
