Cool. Confident. Credible. These principles were selected by the University Image Committee to guide the creation of the new UVU image.

The committee will unveil the official UVU logos to the public toward the latter half of homecoming week, Nov. 26-30.

The unveiling ceremony will also act to kick off "UVUphoria," a yearlong series of events to celebrate the transition to UVU. At this ceremony, an entire logo "family" will be released.

Designed by Rare Method, an interactive marketing firm based in Salt Lake City, the family will consist of about eight official logos, such as the university seal and monogram and the athletics logo.

Rare Method showed a distinct interest in working for the university from the beginning and set itself apart to achieve this.

"Rare Method ranked high in the quality of their work and were the least expensive of the finalists," said Val Hale, vice president for advancement and marketing and image committee co-chair.
Working closely with the numerous entities of UVSC represented on the committee, Rare Method attempted to design an image that wholly represents UVU.

"In the beginning, Rare Method came to us with different philosophical questions, whether we wanted to be collegic, forward-thinking or modern, and then it was narrowed down from there," said Dean of Students and committee member Bob Rasmussen.

Since its creation in March, the committee has remained quiet; the only information released is that the mascot will remain a Wolverine, though it may be updated, and the color will remain green, though the shade and accent colors may be changed.

According to College Marketing, a "closed survey" of "random people both on and off campus" was conducted to obtain feedback on the logos. Only these people and committee members have seen the logos.

The committee also updated the school song for university status.

"This is another opportunity to create or recreate pride as a student at UVU," said Student Body President and committee member Kris Coles. "This is a the students’ university, hopefully I’ve represented them well."

Though unveiling ceremony details are pending, committee members plan to give away 1,000 T-shirts featuring the new logo, provide refreshments and introduce Rare Method.
